Mullah FM

Fascinating article, here, about militant islamic use of FM radio stations in Pakistan.  No TV, no internet in the NWFP, so how do you communicate with the masses?  The extremist mullahs are well ahead of us - how do we catch up and how do we moderate the radical bits but allow the educational aspects through?  The next counter-insurgency is going to be fought in the medium of internet and TV - but clearly radio too...

Get this - you can buy a suitable FM transmitter for less than $200, but get better market penetration than CNN.  Talk about asymmetric...

Apparently the Chinese riots have been using Twitter, SMS, facebook to organize so the Chinese have responded.
